"Event Log Online Help" Link never produces any results...
Well, when I say 'never', so far anyway.Any Event from any Log (all the one's I have tried so far) get directed to the Events and Errors Message Centre, but without fail (so far) it always reports "No results were found for your query. Please see Search Help for suggestions"This never happened (as far as I can remember) with the XP Event Viewer. Is it just me?Obviously not a show stopper, but if the Link is there, surely it should produce some results? I have found it to be a useful facility when working in XP...Running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.Cheers,Chris

As far as I understand, the feature is there to link to KB or useful information pertaining the event, so maybe they have not produced any useful information yet, that is my guess.RegardsHugo Alberto

Yes, that is right. It is the same function as is available in the XP Event Viewer, which nearly always produced a list of results relating to the Event ID etc. I would often use it to follow up on an Error or Warning given in the Event Log to gain more information about it.The difference with the Windows 7 offering is that it connects to the Technet Site to retrieve the online help, but I have never yet got a result when using the link from the Win 7 Event Viewer. As such, it's a bit of a waste of time. I may as well just open microsoft.com and type in the Event ID manually...It's not a show stopper, but I am surprised that something that worked just fine in XP doesn't seem to work at all in 7.

I agree with you, Windows 7 does not seem to be as polished as XP, drivers availability is still an issue for me which is why I have a dual boot with XP available when Win 7 gets on my nerves. One thing I would recommend is to chat online with Microsoft, they will try to find a better solution for you if is available and the service is included with your license, take advantage of it. If it does not work at least they will take note and hopefully fix it for the next SP.Regards
